Its the same every morning on a holiday, twitter and facebook posts begin to flood in with the same message over and over again.
"Happy (Insert holiday)"
"I hope you have a great (insert same holiday)"
Then there are those messages with the antithesis of that particular day:
"My New Year's resolution is not to have any resolutions"
"Merry Xmas!!!! Even though Jesus was never born on this day!"
"YAY! Thanksgiving! The day we fooled the Indians!"
and there is, of course, Valentine's Day:
"Happy S.A.D.! Singles Awareness Day!" as they basket in the glow of their own relationships.
This so-called pressure does not ONLY fall on singles but couples as well. The pressure of finding the perfect gift, coordinating the perfect evening, ordering the flowers, who can profess their love the loudest, sweetest and the best. There are those out there that will pretend not to care or care too much, but one thing we can all agree on.....the reminder of Valentine's is all over the place. On the streets, radio, TV shows and movie specials, grocery stores.....you forgot the milk? Well don't forget this box of chocolates and white teddy bear!
If you are single or in a beautiful relationship, we can always refer back to the basics and accept that what we have in our life is greater than any one day on a calendar. Those days on the calendar gives us the opportunity to celebrate it if we want, but tomorrow will come and we still should be blessed with what we have.
